Marilyn is a creative agency in Melbourne. For over 15 years, we’ve used strategy and great design to help brands tell their stories and solve businesses’ stickiest problems.
We like to become a part of the furniture – if your furniture was really clever and went home at the end of every day. We ask a million questions, explore heaps of weird left-turns and float dozens of ideas until we settle on whatever will get your message seen and heard in crowded and noisy markets.
It sounds like a bit of a cliché to say, ‘No two jobs are the same’, but there’s truth to it. We go in fresh to every project, get tactical when deadlines are tight, and dive even deeper when long-term projects are put in front of us. We want you to trust us to get it right, and sometimes that also means trusting us to wander into the edges of your brief and come back with something a bit left-of-centre. Structure and processes get stuff done, and bravery and flexibility make it fun.
Services
As Australia heads towards mandatory climate disclosures and global standards demand more than baseline transparency, we helped a multi-billion dollar property-industry business position and communicate its impressive ESG credentials.
Working with a diverse team including sustainability, investor relations, marketing, C-suite and more, we changed ESG from compliance to pride. At the AGM just prior to this project, only the Sustainability Director talked about ESG. The following year, nearly everyone who took the stage proudly spoke about their team’s contribution to the business’ ESG efforts.
CHALLENGE
Shift ESG from niche to business-wide.
Despite significant sustainability achievements, the story wasn’t cutting through. Investors weren’t seeing the value, and ESG had limited visibility or ownership beyond the sustainability team.
APPROACH
Through thorough research and 1:1 interviews at all levels, we uncovered barriers and opportunities, then created a unifying ESG positioning, “Better Futures Today”, supported by a campaign, tools, templates, and a rollout plan to maintain momentum.
OUTCOME
A clear, consistent ESG narrative embedded across
the organisation resonated with investors, employees, and partners alike, transformed ESG from compliance to pride.
We used positioning and communications, both internal and external, to make strategy and positioning visible, real and inspiring – maximising impact with all of the client’s stakeholders.
